WEEK 1 Friday 20 July

Treorchy Male Voice Choir

"The master choir of them all" Sir Anthony Hopkins

A sustained standing ovation and three encores last year guaranteed a return visit from this most unique ensemble. Visually dramatic and aurally stirring this choir combine traditional choruses with recent anthemic melodies to provide any listener with an unforgettable evening. Marlborough College Chapel is a glorious architectural jewel in the glistering crown of the campus. Its walls have many tales to tell but on this evening they will be reflecting the shimmering sound of Wales accompanied by the impressive recently installed Chapel organ built by Beckerath of Hamburg.

The Treorchy Male Choir recently celebrated its Diamond Jubilee Anniversary, marking the sixtieth year since it was formed in 1946.

WEEK 2 Tuesday 24 July

Kit and the Widow

Another step into a great British genre, Kit & The Widow are two men and a piano in the graceful English tradition of Flanders & Swann. Perhaps you have enjoyed their recent broadcasts on Radio 3. Perhaps you have enjoyed one of their glittering theatrical evenings up and down the country. Perhaps you have enjoyed them under canvas at some Society thrash in a rain sodden field. If so then here is another opportunity to dip your toe.

WEEK 2 Friday 27 July

A Night at the Opera

Summer School well known for its support of that most difficult of musical disciplines brings an evening of songs and arias from classical opera to the music theatre of today. Be transported to Covent Garden, The Met. or Milan with Kate Woolveridge, mezzo soprano and artists from Welsh National Opera.

Excerpts from Carmen, La Boheme, West Side Story, Pearl Fishes and Lakme
